What is Medicare?

Welcome to our guide on Medicare. Whether you're nearing retirement, have coverage questions, or want to learn more, we're here to help you understand Medicare and optimize your benefits.

Medicare is a government-sponsored health insurance program designed to provide medical coverage for the following groups.

Medicare Coverage

Medicare consists of several parts, each addressing different aspects of healthcare needs:

Part A (Hospital Insurance)

Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care services. Most people receive Part A automatically when they turn 65 and are eligible for Social Security benefits.

Part B (Medical Insurance)

Part B covers outpatient care, doctor's visits, preventive services, and some home health care services. It requires a monthly premium, and individuals have the option to decline it if they have alternative coverage.

Part C (Medicare Advantage)

Part C is offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. They combine the benefits of Part A, Part B, and sometimes Part D (prescription drug coverage) into a single plan.

Part D (Prescription Drug)

Part D plans provide coverage for prescription medications. These plans are offered by private insurance companies and can be added to Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) for an additional premium.
